Founded by an operator
Our story
SMK Medical was founded by Dr. Demetrius Kirk, who started in long-term care as a CNA in 2007 and worked his way through bedside nursing, nursing home administration, regional leadership, and hospital executive roles.
That path shaped the firm. Every consultant on our team has held the role they now advise on, which is why clients describe our work as practical rather than theoretical.
Today SMK Medical supports more than 100 facilities from Detroit, Michigan, and is the company behind the MockSurvey® brand. Its sister company, SurveyGuard, builds AI-powered compliance software for nursing homes.
